Monster Theather Figures from dKiller Panda Toys

Franky Front View The image gallery is now up for the Monster Theater series 1 figures I got a few weeks back, which are now proudly displayed in my office at work. This is a great little series of deformed “old-school” monsters that I fell in love with when I first saw them. They are made by dKiller Panda Toys and distributed by Dark Horse. I found a review and an interview on ToysREvil’s blog from about a year ago talking about the future releases. The illustrations look great, but I’m curious if they’re actually going to happen considering the amount of time that has gone by with no additional series being released. I hope they do, at least for the Faery Tales series that would include figures from Wonderland and Oz!

Mozzarella and the Moofia Minions are in the House

My Moofia figures showed up earlier this week and I just got them shot and added to the Moofia image gallery. Take a look around and enjoy

I’m definitely liking these and look forward to Bulleto and the three new minions!

Here We Go Again – Nintendo Recalls Pins for Lead Content

Nintendo announced that it is recalling 71,000 character pins that were sold between 2004 and 2007 at it’s Nintendo stores and select electronics stores across the US. The lapel pins vary in size, ranging from 1 to 2 inches in height and feature the following characters: Diddy Kong, Donkey Kong, Kirby, Mario, Mario Kart, Pikachu, Princess Peach, Samus, Starfox, Waluigi and Wario were sold individually. Mario, Princess Peach and Samus were also sold in a set together.

Oh, oh, and wait for it… They were manufactured in China. Wow! What a surprise!

Classic Comic-Style Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles from NECA

TMNT Michaelangelo As I picked up my weekly stash at my local comic shop this evening, I saw a beautiful thing on one of the toy racks. It was a pair of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles action figures, Leonardo and Michelangelo to be exact. “But Augiewan…” you say, “there have been so many TMNT figures to date, why on Earth would that excite you?”. It’s simple. These are the first ones that actually look like the original comics from Eastman/Laird. Those years in the 80′s were the “golden years” of comic/toy culture for me and I haven’t been able to swallow any of the mass-market TMNT stuff that has come out since.

But these figure look perfect! They even have crazy articulation so you can pose them in all your favorite “let’s get ready to rumble” stances. So I’ve scrounged around a few eCom sites for some stock images and picked up a few more from a post on Toysrevil’s site (I can’t believe I missed his post 2 MONTH ago!)

The first wave of four figures of course consists of Leonardo (with katana), Michelangelo (with nunchucks), Raphael (with sai), and Donatello (with bo staff). After chatting about them with the owner of the comic shop, I learned that the second wave would be some of the supporting cast but then he brought up the third wave and I got really excited. It’s to be the four boys again, but this time in classic black & white! I MUST have those…

So anyway, if you’re looking to pick these up the first wave comes individually packed or as a box set. The box set does not come with the diorama bases, so I have no idea why anyone would choose it over the singles unless they’re evil and want to display them unopened. Here are some images followed by some places you can order them…

Bulleto & More – Upcoming Moofia Releases by tokidoki/STRANGEco

Moofia Bulleto Front View I was already aware of three new minis (Riso, Creamina, and Fragolinabeing) added to the Moofia line soon, but I just caught a post over on Vinyl Pulse that shows the next larger figure to go along with Mozzarella, the Moofia leader.

Bulleto in all his grumpiness stands ready along with his two shotgun shells (one happy, one mad). My Mozzarella and the original 8 minis are on their way to me as I type this, so these additions by tokidoki/STRANGEco will be on my hit list this summer.

Also coming this summer is a Mozzarella plush!

My Toys Cost How Much???

Looks like toys will be getting more expensive this year just like gas, food, and everything else we use on a daily basis. Not that I hadn’t already noticed some toys getting jacked up at the major retailers recently, but here’s a nice financial article about Mattel (holders of the DC license, makers of U.B.Funkeys, and long-time makers of Barbie and Hot Wheels…

Mattel not playing – toy prices will be hiked – CNNMoney.com

Now if I can just choose… Well, I need the gas to get to the store to get the toys, so I guess food loses. But I could also start buying solely through the Internet, so gas can go and I can eat. Oh wait, I need gas to get to work or everything goes including the house… hmmm… Tough decisions… :(

Combat-R Zero Figures Available Now – Limited to 500 Each

These Combat-R Zero figures are just simply cool. There’s nothing more that really needs said other than they look COOL. Atomic Mushroom Toys has brought us a set of five different color schemes, four of which you can purchase from select retailers for about $55 to $60 US and the fifth which you can only get directly from Atomic Mushroom Toys’ website as part of their Super Set (all five) for $265. If I was independently wealthy, I would have purchased the set before even posting this. I know that may seem steep, but keep in mind that these are almost 10 inches tall and limited to 500 figures per color! Oh yeah, did I mention that “Plutonium” (the exclusive to the set figure) glows in the DARK! How cool is that?!?!?

If you can afford toys this cool, by all means get them! Two online dealers I’ve found that sell them are…
Panic’s Toy Box -and- Fugitive Toys. UPDATE: Both have sold out.

And for your viewing pleasure…

Mechtorians Mini Series Coming This Fall from MINDstyle

I am really liking what I’ve seen so far from this Mechtorians line from MINDstyle. On the down side, we have to wait until the Fall before we’ll get our grubby mitts on them and I want them now. On the up side, we have to wait until the Fall before we can have them and I don’t have the money for them right now…

The style, which comes from the mind of Doktor A is wonderfully detailed and really stands out from the majority of vinyl / art toys being released right now. I for one will be snatching up everything I can find from this series…

I’m looking forward to more images. There were a few different additional figures on display at the NYCC but I’m not posting those images I found until I can find out who to give credit for the shots.

tSE-TotD: Doubleheader from the Galaxy Bunch

Welcome to the first of many tSE-TotD entries. Yeah, that’s a bit cryptic, so I’ll fill you in. theSpeakEasy’s Toy of the Day. Got it now? Good!

I’ve had this little group of nine crazy figures from the Galaxy Bunch for a few months now and have love everything about them. They were designed by Michael Kwong and manufactured by Locomotive Productions Ltd. Today’s tSE-TotD is the aptly named Doubleheader from this first nine dubbed the Virus Series.

From what I’ve been able to dig up, there are currently about 60 characters created for the Galaxy Bunch, so hopefully this first series is selling well enough to see more! It also looks like it took a LONG time to get this first round to become a reality, so we could be waiting a while. I for one, will be waiting impatiently…

Cinnamon Accepted at Custom Toy Lab!

As reported, I submitted a few of my custom figures to CustomToyLab.com this week, hoping to get them posted and I found out yesterday that they accepted my custom U.B.Funkey named Cinnamon.

I’m pretty geeked about it, though I don’t know if that means they didn’t care for the other two submitted or if they just wait and release them in a one-at-a-time manner. Guess I’ll find out soon enough… :)
