I’m definitely liking these and look forward to Bulleto and the three new minions!
Oh, oh, and wait for it… They were manufactured in China. Wow! What a surprise!
But these figure look perfect! They even have crazy articulation so you can pose them in all your favorite “let’s get ready to rumble” stances. So I’ve scrounged around a few eCom sites for some stock images and picked up a few more from a post on Toysrevil’s site (I can’t believe I missed his post 2 MONTH ago!) The first wave of four figures of course consists of Leonardo (with katana), Michelangelo (with nunchucks), Raphael (with sai), and Donatello (with bo staff). After chatting about them with the owner of the comic shop, I learned that the second wave would be some of the supporting cast but then he brought up the third wave and I got really excited. It’s to be the four boys again, but this time in classic black & white! I MUST have those… So anyway, if you’re looking to pick these up the first wave comes individually packed or as a box set. The box set does not come with the diorama bases, so I have no idea why anyone would choose it over the singles unless they’re evil and want to display them unopened. Here are some images followed by some places you can order them… Leonardo: Amazon.com – eBay
Bulleto in all his grumpiness stands ready along with his two shotgun shells (one happy, one mad). My Mozzarella and the original 8 minis are on their way to me as I type this, so these additions by tokidoki/STRANGEco will be on my hit list this summer. Also coming this summer is a Mozzarella plush! Looks like toys will be getting more expensive this year just like gas, food, and everything else we use on a daily basis. Not that I hadn’t already noticed some toys getting jacked up at the major retailers recently, but here’s a nice financial article about Mattel (holders of the DC license, makers of U.B.Funkeys, and long-time makers of Barbie and Hot Wheels… Mattel not playing – toy prices will be hiked – CNNMoney.com Now if I can just choose… Well, I need the gas to get to the store to get the toys, so I guess food loses. But I could also start buying solely through the Internet, so gas can go and I can eat. Oh wait, I need gas to get to work or everything goes including the house… hmmm… Tough decisions… These Combat-R Zero figures are just simply cool. There’s nothing more that really needs said other than they look COOL. Atomic Mushroom Toys has brought us a set of five different color schemes, four of which you can purchase from select retailers for about $55 to $60 US and the fifth which you can only get directly from Atomic Mushroom Toys’ website as part of their Super Set (all five) for $265. If I was independently wealthy, I would have purchased the set before even posting this. I know that may seem steep, but keep in mind that these are almost 10 inches tall and limited to 500 figures per color! Oh yeah, did I mention that “Plutonium” (the exclusive to the set figure) glows in the DARK! How cool is that?!?!? If you can afford toys this cool, by all means get them! Two online dealers I’ve found that sell them are… I am really liking what I’ve seen so far from this Mechtorians line from MINDstyle. On the down side, we have to wait until the Fall before we’ll get our grubby mitts on them and I want them now. On the up side, we have to wait until the Fall before we can have them and I don’t have the money for them right now… The style, which comes from the mind of Doktor A is wonderfully detailed and really stands out from the majority of vinyl / art toys being released right now. I for one will be snatching up everything I can find from this series… I’m looking forward to more images. There were a few different additional figures on display at the NYCC but I’m not posting those images I found until I can find out who to give credit for the shots. Welcome to the first of many tSE-TotD entries. Yeah, that’s a bit cryptic, so I’ll fill you in. theSpeakEasy’s Toy of the Day. Got it now? Good! I’ve had this little group of nine crazy figures from the Galaxy Bunch for a few months now and have love everything about them. They were designed by Michael Kwong and manufactured by Locomotive Productions Ltd. Today’s tSE-TotD is the aptly named Doubleheader from this first nine dubbed the Virus Series. From what I’ve been able to dig up, there are currently about 60 characters created for the Galaxy Bunch, so hopefully this first series is selling well enough to see more! It also looks like it took a LONG time to get this first round to become a reality, so we could be waiting a while. I for one, will be waiting impatiently… As reported, I submitted a few of my custom figures to CustomToyLab.com this week, hoping to get them posted and I found out yesterday that they accepted my custom U.B.Funkey named Cinnamon. I’m pretty geeked about it, though I don’t know if that means they didn’t care for the other two submitted or if they just wait and release them in a one-at-a-time manner. Guess I’ll find out soon enough…
